Pallavi Singh Quits Harley Davidson; to join SAIC's MG Motor India soon

NEW DELHI: MG Motor India, the fully owned subsidiary of China’s largest auto firm SAIC Motor Corporation has amplified its India operation.
According to sources, the carmaker has bought the General Motors’s Gujarat plant for $60 million and roped in two key executives to join the company.
Pallavi Singh will be joining M G Motor India in the first week of August as marketing head. She had recently resigned as Director Marketing from the Indian arm of the American premium two-wheeler company Harley-Davidson India.
She will be bidding adieu to this cult motorcycle brand after an almost eight-year-long hiatus.

M G Motor India has also appointed Pankaj Parkar as head of dealer development. Like company’s recent recruited top executives Pankaj also worked with General Motors in the past.
Pankaj served as regional manager (sales) for General Motors between 2006 and 2009. In 2009 Pankaj joined the German luxury car brand Audi in India as regional sales head (west) and he finally quit from Audi in 2016 as head of sales. He served for seven years with Audi in India.
MG Motor India also confirmed the appointment of top-level executives - Rajeev Chaba as the President & Managing Director and P Balendran as Executive Director of its Indian subsidiary MG Motor India.
M G Motor India, the first Chinese carmaker in India will set up its first plant at an investment of Rs 2,000 crore.
The Chinese auto major had earlier entered an MoU with the Gujarat government to establish the plant at Halol, around 160km from here, where MG brand cars will be manufactured.
On the Ministry of Cooperate Affairs website, MG Motor India describes itself as a “manufacturer of motor vehicle, trailers and others."
Its first product in India is expected to be an SUV, priced in the Rs 15 lakh - Rs 18 lakh range to take on the likes of Hyundai Tucson.
